Bay Area:

Bluebird Yarn and Fiber Crafts in Sausalito, CA.
The staff is extremely friendly and I'm always able to find new and exciting yarn. They have a pretty great yarn discount club, too!

Knitterly in Petaluma, CA.
This is another great store. I love how spread out Knitterly is; I always feel as though I can actually see the yarns I'm looking at without interrupting anyone else. Very knowledgeable staff as well.

Claddagh Yarns in Berkeley, CA.
This is one of the coziest yarn stores around. Great big windows filter in natural light and it just feels like I'm hanging out at home when I'm there.

Yarns on First in Napa, CA.
I love walking in and seeing all the yarns here. Great yarn, great organization, great staff, great store. That's a lot of greats...

Uncommon Threads in  Los Altos, CA.
I've only been in once, but it was an incredible experience. So friendly and helpful, but I also really felt like I had room to look at and get to know all of the beautifulness in the store. I already can't wait to go back! Another one with a yarn discount club.

Dharma Trading Company in San Rafael, CA.
More than a yarn store, but happily, they have an awesome yarn supply. Lots of Berroco as well as a good selection of Cascade. Some great indie dyers as well.

Portland:

Close Knits in Portland, OR.
Just a lovely neighborhood yarn shop. They had one of the best knit nights in my opinion…I've never felt so warm and welcomed so quickly. Very cheerful staff and a great selection of yarn. Another one with a yarn discount club.

Twisted in Portland, OR.
One of my all-time favorite yarn shops. The staff at Twisted has so much fun and they want everyone around them to have just as much fun! The store is set-up really well and they have an amazing selection of yarn. The staff is great at making recommendations and really knows the yarn well.

Other

Angelika’s Yarn Store in...
This store is set-up really well and has some amazing yarn selections. As well, they're very interested in charity work and will always have a special place in my heart for helping me out with a charity knitting project when I was a junior at UP. Super friendly and helpful staff is always a win!

Idaho

Ewe and Brew in Meridian, Idaho

Amazing selection, great staff and such a nice place to just set and knit. These ladies are massive enablers but so sweet and they know their yarn so well!
